Why do we calibrate Gay Pride month?
Gay pride month is one of the best and most exiting events known to the LGBTQI+ community. We calibrate the past efforts of those who came before us and fought for our rights to live and be openly gay to the world.
Before we continue with this topic, watch this video of “Why Do We Have Gay Pride Month In The United States?” first, to understand why we calibrate Gay Pride.

A six-band rainbow flag representing the LGBT community.
The “Flag of Cusco” was introduced in 1978 and is still the official city emblem. In Ecuador, a rainbow flag is used by the “Pachakutik” political party (1995), which is composed mostly of left-wing indigenous people.
Gay pride or LGBT pride is the process of awareness to the world for equality, dignity, self-affirmation, and increasing visibility of gay, bisexual, lesbian, and transgender (LGBT) people as a community and social group. “Pride” the term, as opposed to “shame” and social stigma, is and always have been the predominant outlook that bolsters almost every movement of the LGBT community rights.
LGBT-themed organizations, institutes, foundations, book titles, periodicals, a cable TV station and even the Pride Libraries are all lenders of the name Pride.
How we celabrate Gay Pride
We calibrate gay pride by having something called a Gay Pride March, also known as Gay Pride Parades.
These are outdoor events where we celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary and queer (LGBTQ) self acceptance, legal rights and achievements with pride together by keeping in mind those who came before us to fight for our human rights. We memorialize those who lost their lives in brutal assaults just for showing public affection.
